Job Summary: The Country Officer will be co-located with the World Bank,facilitating IFC’s investment and advisory strategy and activities.
Job Description: The IFC work program in Vanuatu continues to expand through investment and advisory activities. Thecurrent program includes:- National Bank of Vanuatu, investment and advisory support- Pacific Regional Tourism developments, agri supply chains, emerging markets investment strategy and marketing- Financial Markets, payments System, banking exchange and Credit Bureaus Duties and Accountabilities: Facilitate and support an integrated investment and advisory strategy that maximizes IFC development impact with a focus on sustainable job creation, in the context of the World Bank Group overall strategy in Vanuatu. Develop and manage relationships at the highest level of seniority with key players in the private sector, government, and development partner communities, continuing to position IFC as the partner of choice to catalyze high impact private sector projects in the countries. Develop and maintain strong relationships with IFC Industry and Advisory teams to help originate new transactions and manage IFC existing portfolio, providing strong guidance and support to the sector teams on local and strategic issues from the country’s perspective. Actively support IFC donor fund-raising efforts and maintain strong relationships with key partners locally. Develop and enhance IFC brand and visibility by organizing/participating in high profile events, promoting success stories, and engaging in effective communications to position IFC as a trusted advisor on the major development issues. Contribute to regular and timely reports/updates on the IFC Pacific program, including briefs for Senior Management, updates, reports and/or presentations of achievements to Senior Management Team, the Board, or external partners.
Requirements: Post Graduate degree in finance or business or equivalent professional qualification A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in development finance business, preferably with some project and/or corporate finance experience. Demonstrated relationship management skills, including proven listening skills, sound business judgment, with ability to focus on the client’s needs & solve problems. In depth knowledge of Vanuatu and strong contacts within Government, private sector and donor community. Self-reliant, pro-active and highly motivated to support IFC’s program. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Facility to work successfully in multicultural teams and across boundaries Commitment to the highest standards of integrity, transparency and fairness. Willingness and ability to travel and work across time zones.
